General Discussion / OT: Nightmare Alley 2021

Hello fellow Chan fans and mystery buffs,

Just watched this remake of the original 1947 film (which has George Chandler from Chinese Cat) and I really enjoyed the remake. In todays world it's had to find a decent mystery or film noir and for me ot hit home.

Really gives me some hope that something could be done with a Chan film in the future if you had a group with a director like this film interested.

Did read that a B & W version of this was released to select areas, but haven't found any source.

Anyone watched this film and any thoughts?

We finally received a decent amount of snow here and followed by -3 degrees this morning. But it is mild here as well so far.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.  As I posted on Rush Glick's site, I am always grateful for the many hours of pleasure I derived from both of the Chan Message Boards, and the friends that I made along the way.  May 2022 be a healthier year for everyone.

PS:  Christmas Day was cool and rainy in Syracuse, with almost no snow on the ground.  We are due for a mild winter !!

I know our lives have gone different directions over the years, however I remember the "Good Ole Days" when Kurt's board was the big focus for all Chan fans. I still think of each one of you at this time of year and wanted to express my heartfelt love for each one of you and families as well. Merry Christmas from one end to the other across this world.

We are at about 9 degrees no snow but chilly, putting a log on for the evening... Happy holiday my extended family

TCM also occasionally shows "The Drums of Jeopardy", where Warner Oland plays a sinister non-Asian character.  This is also a good movie to watch, and I will post a message if I see it turn up on the schedule.

I forgot to post a message here, but a few days ago TCM showed "Before Dawn", a murder mystery from 1933.  Warner Oland has a big part in the film, playing an Eastern European doctor here in the US.  It's a good movie to watch, and it's interesting to see Oland in a different non-Asian character role.  I've seen this film listed on the TCM schedule before, so it is possibly shown several times a year.  Keep an eye on the schedule for this movie.
